It’s heartbreaking to read all the news about layoffs.
Layoff, for any reason – budget cutting, performance, change of company strategy – is a devastating experience for a person getting such news. It’s hard to take it in and then move on without any difficulties. I know it too, I’ve been there once a couple of years ago.
Fortunately, everyone is the leader of their own life. It’s not the company, not the manager, not the spouse, not the parent. Our life is in our control.
If you’ve been laid off recently you can help yourself by deciding to:
🌏Ask for help: friend, therapist, coach, somebody who went through a similar experience. So many people have been laid off in their life. You are not alone and you don’t have to go through it by yourself.
🌏Take care of yourself and your well-being. No one else will do it for you the way you can.
🌏Map your skills, identify your strengths, and see what else you can do instead of the work you’ve been doing so far. It can be a super refreshing experience.
🌏Role play: think about what your advice would be to someone who lost job.
🌏Take a break from your job search. The best ideas pop in when we are relaxed 🌿
Have you been laid off recently or in the past? What helped you?
